Hate-mongers crawl out of the woodwork

The hate-mongers have been hard at work since Barack Obama’s historic victory in the Democratic primaries.
According to the Washington Post, white supremacists report an increase in visits to their Web sites.
Meanwhile, the Obama campaign has launched an effort called Fight the Smears to defuse false rumors spread on the internet by hate-mongers.
Was it too much to hope this kind of ugliness would not crawl out of the woodwork?

  1. Ahem. Check out the hate much closer to home.

The Wilmington Journal dares to report the details of powerful state Sen. Julie Boseman's domestic dispute -- details mainstream outlets in Wilmington and much of the state have ignored -- and the paper's Web site immediately gets profanely hacked.

Let's see -- Powerful, no visible means of support state legislator. Check. Legal dispute. Check. Cone of silence from the "official" Fourth Estate. Check.

The woodwork? Try broad daylight in NC.

  2. Bzzt. The WP report was, shall we say, mistaken. Which is usually the case when reporters write a story to reinforce a theme for a campaign rather than write a story based on data. And when the usually-skeptical press reports claims of hate groups as fact in order to further their agenda.

    Nice try, though.
