The socialists are coming, the socialists are coming!

This just in: Socialists are trying to take over the town of Cornelius and the United Nations will soon try to take over Lubbock, Texas.

Terrifying, we know. But remain calm. The Cornelius town commissioners and an elected official in Lubbock have your back.

Here's the deal: A group of socialists, cleverly disguised as the Centralina Council of Governments, are hatching a nefarious plot. They want Cornelius to -- gasp! -- join a regional partnership to look at planning and growth. They cling to this crazy notion that the fates of the towns in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg region are intertwined, and that Cornelius and others can't effectively address all their challenges alone.

But they couldn't sneak past Cornelius Mayor Pro Tem Lynette Rinker. Rinker sniffed it out before the town commissioners voted. "It really is an insidious, creeping, socialist agenda couched in apple pie," she said. "This is our one chance to stand up and say, 'no, not here.'"

Rinker linked the effort to UN Agenda 21, a global United Nations plan for sustainability, Corneliusnews.net reported. The United States got duped into signing on to that plan -- along with 178 other countries -- in 1992.

Thank goodness Cornelius has Rinker. Alerted to the plot, the town board voted unanimously not to participate. That oughta keep the socialists out. It remains to be seen whether it can keep out the growth and all the attendant traffic, environmental, housing and other pressures that come with it.

Meanwhile, a similar eagle-eye is protecting the good people of Lubbock, Texas, the Huffington Post reports. Tom Head, a county judge there, warned that President Obama in a second term will give American sovereignty to the UN, leading to UN troops rolling into Lubbock and inciting civil war.

“He's going to try to hand over the sovereignty of the United States to the U.N., and what is going to happen when that happens?” Head asked. “I'm thinking the worst. Civil unrest, civil disobedience, civil war maybe. And we're not just talking a few riots here and demonstrations, we're talking Lexington, Concord, take up arms and get rid of the guy."

"Now what's going to happen if we do that, if the public decides to do that? He's going to send in U.N. troops. I don't want 'em in Lubbock County. OK. So I'm going to stand in front of their armored personnel carrier and say, 'You're not coming in here,'" the judge said.

Because of this impending invasion, Head argued for a property tax hike to prepare the local authorities to defend the town from a foreign invasion instigated by Obama.

  1. Yes. And black Congressman Andre Carson says "The GOP would love to see black people hanging on a tree". And Vice President Joe Biden says the GOP wants to "put ya'll (blacks)back in chains".

    Go figure.

  2. See this is how they sneak stuff by the public.....ridicule stories like these and make fun of them as a way to distract. As the ones above have stated Agenda 21 is a real...you can read all the scary details on the UN's website. As far as socialist, they are already here.........in the White House.

  4. Yeah, Taylor your childish reaction to this agenda and yours speaks volumes about your lack of intellctual honesty. Take your Centralina Council of Governments and put it where the sun doesn't shine.

  5. Hey, it's great to just using mocking to minimize people, isn't it, Observer. That way, you don't actually have to do any journalism or explain how these people may be wrong.

  6. "From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs." Karl Marx

If you agree Marx, then essentially you are a socialist. Taylor is oddly trying to argue that socialist don't exist and that they don't have an agenda. Obama does have a lot of significant ties to socialist and socialist ideas. That's not debatable but it is ignored.

  7. A few thoughts:

The article is funny and not funny. I think that was the point. Politicians on both sides are SCARY!!! Conspiracy has been taken to an art form has demonstrated by the comments already made.

The Observer does seem to enjoy antagonizing or in-depth journalism. Then again, we jump on headlines over critical discussion so really that's our fault.

To kantstanzya: Listen to the entire speech. "Ya'll" wasn't directed at blacks. It was a reference to any earlier comment about Wall Street. That being said, it wasn't a bright thing to say because it distracted people from a valid point.

Also something to consider as we throw around the word socialist. Jesus was more socialist than capitalist. While I don't think Obama is a socialist, the concept of a society helping each other shouldn't be a terrible thought. I know comments back to me will miss my point but at least stop and consider this, Are we really a Christian (or even faithful) society and Do we even want to be??? I'd like to think we are but evidence by our citizens (not just politicians) actions and comments makes me wonder . . .

  8. If socialism is what Obama has been doing for the last four years, I like it.

Give me four more years of Socialism, please!

  9. As you wish. We just hope others will take the same mindset of wanting four more years.

  10. If you don't know the diference between the govt forcing you to be charitable and being charitable out of your overflow of your love for God, then you don't understand Jesus or his ministry.

  11. I get a kick out of the right-wing hysteria ... U.N. TROOPS! BLACK HELICOPTERS! SOCIALIST AGENDAS!!!

Corporate profits are at an all-time high. Corporate taxes as a percentage of profits are at a 65-year low. The S&P is up 75% since Obama took office. The number of government employees on all levels (federal, state and local) has been reduced by 700,000 (vs. an increase of 1.4 under Reagan).

THAT is socialism? Get a grip.

What is the tinfoil-hat crowd going to say when President Obama gets re-elected and -- surprise, surprise -- there are no U.N. troops holding you at gunpoint or jack-booted thugs from the Centralina Council of Governments forcing you off to some gulag?

  12. Again Taylor, the libs don't get here for another week and a half and here you are wasting all your drivel when no one special will be reading it! Oh wait, you say you're going to keep this posted for 3 weeks so they all can see how inept you are at opining?

    Batten, you're a PUTZ!

  13. I noticed someone mentioned the s and p was up. Could they get us the citation. My conservative friends all have the official sites and they show it is down about 8.5 since 2007.

We need to be able to show them the seventy five percent rise since our Obama was in office.

Oh they all want to site places like this for their silly ideas of the economy going down and not up 75 percent since our Obama has been in office. http://money.cnn.com/data/markets/sandp/

    ReplyDelete
  14. And now those silly conservatives are saying we have not cut the federal employees by 700 thousand instead they say

The number of federal employees grew by 123,000, or 6.2%, under President Obama, according to the White House's Office of Management and Budget.

Again they cite that silly CNN Money site.

So we need to get your citation so we can go right back at them.

  15. Corporate profits are at a all time high. Thank you China and India, without your need for our food and our old metal machines and the like from our failed businesses, we would be in trouble.

  16. Taylor,

Whatever it is that you're smoking... please quit.

What a total load of BS!

Those who can, do... those who can't write for a newspaper.

And you wonder why the Observer keeps laying people off!

  17. Edward R. Murrow (one of the most respected journalist in US history for those who have never heard of him) would puke on your shoes in disgust Taylor!

Journalism died when Walter Cronkite came home from Viet Nam and was advised by his boss, "don't write about what you saw, write about what you think"... it was then that we lost the war in Viet Nam. Not because we lost on the battlefield but because the voice Americans trusted most, stopped reporting facts and began reporting his opinion.

  18. You need to do a better job of trolling, Larry.

Criticizing Obama for what the S&P did since 2007? Really? 2007?

He was inaugurated Jan. 20, 2009. Two-thousand and nine. Not two-thousand and seven. Do you know the difference between a seven and a nine?

Anyway, the S&P 500 opened at 849.64 on Jan. 20, 2009. It closed at 1402 today. So that's just a 65% increase; my bad. Guess that makes Obama a craaaaaazy socialist.

Is there anything else you'd like to blame him for, that happened two years before he took office?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Also, Larry, brush up on your reading comprehension. I made it painfully clear that I was talking about the number of government employees on ALL levels. You know how I did that? It was pretty complicated. Try to follow along. I wrote, "The number of government employees on all levels (federal, state and local)"

Yeah, I can see how you'd be confused by that. I mean, it's not like I wrote "federal, state and local."

Oh, wait. I did. You just can't read.

And that's just a fact. Since 2009, government AT ALL LEVELS have shed 706,000 jobs. You know, those are the jobs that Romney sneered about while on the stump in Iowa -- "(Obama) wants to hire more government workers. He says we need more fireman, more policeman, more teachers." Yeah, those jobs.

Meanwhile, under Reagan, the U.S. ADDED 1.4 million government jobs.

Remind me again ... who was the big-government socialist? The guy under whom government got smaller, or the guy under whom government got bigger?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Man, am I happy to know that the DJIA and the S&P 500 are up during the Obama term! It's ALMOST as good as having a job!

  21. By the way Taylor, maybe your diatribe should be called, "The Communists are Coming, The Communists are Coming", since the opening of Mayor Foxx's communist Chinese company, Jetion Solar. His recent, luxurious trip to the communist country helped bring the ChiComs to Charlotte at a cost that he has not revealed. A little investigative reporting on behalf of the slobserver would have revealed this company has indirect ties to the ChiCom military and is suspected of being a front for Chinese intelligence gathering and corporate espionage!

But of course the net gain of a whopping 40 JOBS was well worth the effort.....

  22. 1Hey, I'm afraid of the really big socialist organizations in this country: The Pentagon and the NSA.
    Am I the only one?

They're trying to spend as much of our money as fast as they can. There's an aircraft carrier down in Hampton Roads that's two years overdue & $1.1 billion
    overbudget.
Congress insisted that the tactical F-35 develop a new engine that the army, navy and air force didn't want & that cost $45billion. There's the Osprey that still doesn't work, which has cost us nearly $50 billion now.
These are socialist tactics too, because we can't vote on what they get. That's all an inside deal.
Let's even talk about the retirement packages of congress and the armed forces which are models of socialized planning.

I'm against this kind of socialism, but I'm not fearful of government planning as such. Some of it keeps us out of trouble and debt later.
I'm not yet clear about the resistance to this particular city planning in this article.
Perhaps with the exception of the mayor in Texas, and I think its a safe bet that the majority of Texas governmental officials are suspicious of planning as such. They prefer shooting from the hip.

  23. @ hazelmotes: could you point me to that government planning which has kept "...us out of...debt later"? Thanks! I must have missed it the first time around!
