What should Mayor Foxx tell Obama?

Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx is in Washington today and expects to meet with President Barack Obama on Wednesday.

Foxx will attend a national mayors summit today. Foxx said he plans to talk with folks about light rail and homelessness, among other things.

On Wednesday, he expects to meet with Obama, who gave him a congratulatory phone call after his victory over Republican John Lassiter.

Maybe he'll get Obama on board with having the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte.
So what do you want Foxx to talk about with Obama? What Charlotte issues do you think he most needs Obama to be familiar with and understand? Post a comment below.

The president and federal government don't need to be meddling in the affairs of any city or state. Just tell him congrats on fooling them all, and shake his hand.

I get the accurate feeling there is going to be an overwhelming backlash against government involvement in the daily lives of citizens.

Starting yesterday.

Tell him to resign.

Here's what Foxx should tell Obama:

Capitalism and Conservatism work. Socialism and Liberalism are abject failures. Either get on board with what works or get the hell out of the way.

Dont say a word. Just walk up to him and slap the S out of him. He'll understand.

Why would you position this question in such a way for all of the people who are seccessionist leaning to take nasty jabs at President Obama? I wish the people who hate government's role would stay off roads, not go to school, bury their own garbage, give up civil protections, send back social secuity and unemployment benefits, inspect their own foods, pay as high a premium on health insurance as the companies will charge...

I see the Obama haters are out in full force. You people make me sick and think that you know it all. Obama is the President for another 3 years and more to come. So get use to it.

Algernon said...

Wow Gwen, that's simply amazing.

Your govt is out of touch with reality on spending, entitlements, bailouts and the fingers of socialism exercise with knuckle cracking proximity.

Just because people do not like what the elected officials are doing, does not make them secessionists.

Not everyone voted for obama, most who did are wishing they hadn't.

Govt is for oversight not outright control.

I would imagine once the people get the government back in order, folks like you will be packing up to move to any one of a number of European countries you crave the United States to be like?

Urbanechild said...

I said for all the people who are secceionist leaning --I did not say all people who don't like federal government's role are secessionist leaning. Why don't you suggest those who despise this administration to leave the US?? I would not suggest such a thing but obviously you would.

Indeed you did Gwendolyn, my sincerest.

I wasn't part of the "fundamental transformation" malarkey.

Think I'll stick around, and do what ever little insignificant part I can do to make sure it doesn't happen, and we get back on track.

Much luck.

Hitman tonights results will speak for themselves and tomorrow don't get on here mad at the world because your party lost. Cause that is what Repubs do. Maybe try getting your party on one accord them you might win an election. Until them please just enjoy your ride. Cause if Bush didn't put this country under I guarantee you President Obama won't put us under.

MoveOn said...

Also HITMAN Last time I check your people take more handouts and look for more handouts than the law allows. I don't want anything from the governement and I pay more taxes than the average person. So put that in your pipe and smoke on it for a while.

Straight talk...less politicing.
It would be highly appropriate to inquire/discuss the many programs and initiatives that current administrations (local, state and federal)have discussed or proposed to address stimulating small business development, job growth/creation, economic and overall urban sustainability as the "ground-up" way to adress reviving the country's failing economy. Less words, more direct actions and welcomed involvement and input by those particular sectors (i.e. the real economic base that's been eroded).

Tell him to stay the hell away from Charlotte and that once his term is up, to go move to Europe or the middle east where he is worshipped.

If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan's holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current in their income taxes, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had mis-spelled the word "advice" would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potatoe as proof of what a dunce he is?

If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he's a hypocrite?

If George W. Bush's administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11?

If George W. Bush had created the position of 32 Czars who report directly to him, bypassing the House and Senate on much of what is happening in America , would you have approved.

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

If George W Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?

So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? Can't think of anything? Don't worry. He's done all this in 12 months -- so you'll have three years to come up with an answer.

ALGERNON Please don't try to act like George W. Bush didn't screw this country up. Obama had to do those things to help the people of this country who bush had screwed without even kissing them while doing it. Don't try to blame Obama for Bush mess that he left and didn't give a hote about the american people.

I did not think so.

Just Bush, this Bush that...no coherent facts, just spewage.

Go away, move on yourself.

ALGERNON What's wrong you don't like what I said. Well the truth hurts. George W. Bush put this country in the whole financially, and spent money on a senseless war for many, many, years. You and the rest of the repubs can't try to spit hate at Obama all you like you are the one's who have screw this country up with your all about self attitude. You are a bunch of people who simply like to get rich off others and do nothing but take from the poor and give to your rich buddys. I hope the republican never get control again.

Algernon said...

oy vay...here I am doing my taxes trying understand your point. You have nothing. Nada zip, zilch.

Please explain I ask once again how

"George W. Bush put this country in the whole financially, and spent money on a senseless war for many, many, years."

Congress had as much to do with the "senseless war" as Bush, so drop that one. But really Bush made it clear he wasn't there to sing Kumbaya and hold hands with terrorists...the employed strategy kept us all safe, including you and your family for those 8 years.

So how did Bush put us in the hole ? succinctly now.

Richard said...

Uhhh MoveOn, I'm sorry, but the entire 'financial' fiasco started waaaaaay back in the Carter administration with a little bill called the Community Reinvestment Act, and only got worse under the auspices of one William Jefferson Clinton when Barney Frank started running amok. Let me tell you, that little weasel belongs in jail, and should he ever be voted out of office I bet that's where he ends up.

The reason George W. gets blamed for the 'financial mess' that happened over the last few years is that he had the opportunity to mandate legislation to stop this mess and didn't. So yes... he's just as much to blame as everybody else. BUT... he's NOT the cause of it. That can be traced back clear back to your illustrious Carter and Clinton, one of whom supposedly walked on water.

And for Obama... all he's done is make an even bigger mess of things. My grandkids are going to be paying this mess off... and they're yet to be born. So don't sit there and say, 'oh, he's the greatest thing since sliced bread. This is nothing but a nightmare... and there is no end in sight.

FYI,
1. Bush didn't get tough until after 9/11.
2. Bush took office and immediately unbalanced the budget by announcing tax breaks for his rich, white, buddies. Imagine if Obama had taken office and said only my black buddies get a tax break.
3. Bush approved No Child Left Behind (The Dumbing of America) Act.
4. He wanted to put your SS funds in the hands of the bankers that we had to bail out.
5. Cheney was actually President.

FYI,
1. Bush didn't take firm action until after 9/11.
2. Bush screwed the country by immediately announcing tax cuts that only benefited his rich, Republican buddies. Remember, Clinton passed a balanced budget that had a surplus.
3. Bush signed off on No Child Left Behind, also known as The Dumbing of America.
4. Remember, Bush bankrupted two companies. Wanna add a Country?
5. Bush and the Republicans were responsible for The Patriot Act. The most invasive act of any Administration. McCarthyism anyone?

These top the list of things that have irked me about Republicans and the deficit spending Democrats are starting to head down that same hole.

Tell me why people worth
millions of dollars need free healthcare for life?

Tell President Obama "good job and it was quite a mess that was left for you to clean up". Tell him not to be deterred by the "talk radio buffoons" because their numbers are dwindling. Tell him to be bolder for change and stop trying to appease folks that only have his detriment and the demise of the U.S. as their goal. Tell him that "negative minds" forecast his defeat before but they were then and now full of stinky hot air! Tell him that the good people of NC will continue to support him.
