George Bush the gracious?

Fair's fair.

Yesterday we had fun at George Bush's expense, sharing a compendium of Bushisms (that's become a new genre in his eight years) as we look back on presidential slips of the tongue.

Today we came across a remarkably gracious comment by the president in an interview this week with talk show host Larry King. King asked the president if he was ambivalent about the change of power in the White House and the inaugaration of Barack Obama. Here's the reply:

George Bush: No. I don't think you can be ambivalent. I've been looking forward to the inauguration of Barack Obama. I'll have a front row seat in what is an historic moment for the country.

King: Do you like him?

George Bush: Yes, I do like him, and you'd like him, too.

That's gracious, Mr. President. And downright eloquent. Thanks for reminding us presidential rhetoric cuts both ways.

Here's a link to the entire interview.

And, here's a sampler of other coherent (dare we say articulate?) Bush quotes, such as this one:

"After the chaos and carnage of September 11th, it is not enough to serve our enemies with legal papers."

Other sources for non-embarrassing Bush quotes:

A little googling shows W could be deliberately (not accidentially) humorous, too. Click here to browse more examples such as this:

"I want to thank you for taking time out of your day to come and witness my hanging."

Now if you've had enough serious stuff, don’t miss this great BBC story about Bush's gaffes that has good video links.

I am hoping with the inauguration of President Obama, the attacks on Bush will finally stop. Bush has been attacked more than any other president. People hate him with a vitriol I have never seen before. Bush is more intelligent than people give him credit for, and I think he has done a heck of a job protecting us from another terrorist attack. Enough already!

"Bush is more intelligent than people give him credit for" and "I think he has done a heck of a job protecting us from another terrorist attack" just made me smile.

It sort of made sense IF in your opinion Bush is intelligent THEN you also believe there are billions and billions of terrorists just waiting to attack your hick town.

This nation would not be the subject of terrorism if it did not subject nations to its own version of terrorism.

After thinking it over; I guess he was better than Andrew Johnson and Herbert Hoover.

You people really are idiots. George Bush has been far more gracious than he should have been. Seriously, find any incident where Bush has replied to any attack on him with any thing beyond a shrug and a statement that was part of the job. As for isms, "10000 people died in a tornado yesterday in Kansas." Barack Obama. $1000 if you can explain that.

3:13 - Well said!
3:24 - Go hug a tree. What you're saying is that we asked for it on 9/11. You're a moron.

You are one naive person if you believe that USA has no enemies out there, and if there are any terrorists it's Bush's fault. The left and media all over the world had loved Bubba Clinton, yet we got attacked several times during his presidency. Is that W's fault too?
Even Obama the First said on Sunday that prisoners in Gitmo are dangerous people commited to destruction of this country. Do you doubt him?

IT ONLY TAKES 1 TERRORIST TO DESTROY 1000'S OF PEOPLE. IF YOU THINK AMERICA IS SUCH A BAD PLACE THEN TAKE YOUR SORRY A-- TO IRAN AND SEE HOW LONG IT TAKES FOR YOUR HEAD TO GET SAWED OFF. YOU PEOPLE WHO FEAST OFF OF WHAT AMERICA OFFERS AND THEN SPEW GARBAGE ABOUT HOW BAD A COUNTRY IT IS DON'T DESERVE TO BE HERE. I'M SURE A LOT OF FOLKS IN COUNTRIES ALLOVER THE WORLD WOULD CHANGE PLACES WITH YOU. CAN WE HELP YOU WITH AN ADDRESS CHANGE? I'M SURE WE COULD GET DONATIONS TO SHIP YOUR SORRY A-- OFFS SOME WHERE.
